Embarrassed about the dark skin in your pubic area? Well its pretty normal to feel that way, especially when you’re a woman and you’re about to don a swimwear for, say, a company or family outing. You’ll probably think twice about wearing skimpy attire because of uneven skin tone between your legs.
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, this skin condition actually has a medical name – acanthosis nigricans (AN). Aside from the groin part, dark skin may also develop on the back of the neck and even armpits.
So what can you do about it? Here are seven natural remedies to help lighten your skin:
Get some lemon juice and massage it on the unevenly colored skin area. Leave it for around 10 minutes and then wash with warm water. You’d be surprised on how much improvement you’ll get in as little as one or two months.
Just make sure, however, not to shave near the public area before applying lemon juice because that would really hurt.
- Sandalwood and Rose Water
If you see a nearby health food or Indian grocery store in your area, then you can purchase sandalwood and rose water.
Just mix 1 spoon of sandalwood powder with 10 drops of rose water. After taking a bath, apply the mixture on the affected area. Leave it there for 20 minutes before rinsing it off.
Do this at least 3 times a week.
- Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe vera gel is also a good solution to your skin problem. In case you don’t have any aloe plant at home, you can simply use pure aloe vera gel from a drugstore.
Just massage the gel in the public area and leave it for about 20 minutes before washing it off with warm water. You may also do this after talking a bath.
- Plain Yogurt
You might find this surprising but, yes, even plain yogurt can be used as a treatment for skin discoloration. Massage on dark skin and allow to sit for 15 minutes. Wash with warm water. Do this everyday for several weeks until you notice fast improvement.
- Orange Juice and Turmeric
Like lemons, oranges contain natural bleaching agents so it can be very useful for you. Just mix two tablespoons of orange juice with a pinch of turmeric and then apply it to the public area. Leave it on for 20 minutes before washing.
- Gram Flour
Lastly, we have the gram flour. Just add a little water to the flour and mix it until it turns into thick paste. Apply to your skin and wash it with water. For best results, do this at least 3 times a week.
